Scurix Background Remover ("we", "our", or "us") is a Shopify application developed by Scurix. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you install and use the app, how we use it, and what rights you have in relation to it.
Our app processes your Shopify product images using AI to remove their backgrounds. We take a minimal-data approach: we access only what is strictly necessary to deliver the service, and we never collect, store, or sell any personal data belonging to your customers or shoppers.
When you select a product image for background removal, the app retrieves that image from your Shopify store via the Shopify API, sends it to our AI processing service, and returns the result to you for review. Once you approve the result, the processed image is uploaded back to your Shopify product listing.
No shopper or customer data is involved in this process at any point.
When a merchant installs the app, we receive and store the minimum data required to operate the service:

We access only the minimum data required for these operations. We do not read, store, or process any other Shopify store data, including orders, customers, financial records, or theme files.
Merchant configuration data (app settings and access tokens) is stored on servers located within the European Economic Area (EEA). All data is encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.2+). Access is restricted to authorised Scurix personnel only, and only where necessary for support or maintenance.
Product images processed through the app are handled exclusively in-memory during the operation and are never written to persistent storage on our servers.
We do not use third-party analytics services, advertising networks, or data brokers in connection with this app.
Merchant configuration data is retained for as long as the app is installed on your Shopify store. If you uninstall Scurix Background Remover, all data associated with your store — including settings and access tokens — is permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days of uninstallation.
Usage records (image counts used for billing) are retained for a maximum of 13 months for billing dispute purposes, after which they are permanently deleted.
Because Scurix Background Remover does not collect, transmit, or store any shopper or customer personal data, your obligations under GDPR (EU) 2016/679 and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) with respect to the background removal functionality are minimal.
As the merchant, you remain the data controller for your Shopify store and your customers' data. Scurix acts as a data processor only for the merchant configuration data described above, and does so under the obligations set out in this policy.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where the changes are material, notify you via the Shopify admin notification system.
Continued use of Scurix Background Remover after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
